Joseph A. McNulty CPA, CFF, CVA
Joseph McNulty began his accounting career at Arthur Andersen & Co. in 1980, and later joined a regional accounting firm as a partner in its tax and real estate groups. In 1989, McNulty started his own firm in Los Angeles in which later merged with a large regional practice in Southern California
In the mid-1990’s, he became a founding partner of The Hampstead Group in London. Hampstead, through an affiliate, was responsible for privatization projects in the Republic of Tajikistan, and conducted its privatization projects in other Central Asian Countries and Russia. Hampstead was the founder, management and shareholder in two sucessful public listings.
McNulty also was the founder of several high technology ventures and consulted on numerous venture capital projects in the technology, internet, media, and entertainment industries. In 2002, Mr. McNulty went back into public accounting to provide “due diligence,” tax, litigation, and valuation services.
McNulty received a B.S.C. Degree in Accounting and Finance from The University of Santa Clara in 1979. He is Certified Public Accountant in California and New York State
He currently teaches “Partnership Taxation” and “Taxation of Sports Franchises” in the Master in Taxation “Cyber” program at Golden Gate University in San Francisco
He also has credentials as a Certified Financial Forensic (CFF) and Certified Valuation Anaysis (CFA)
McNulty specializes in the area of business consulting, tax planning and structuring, complex tax litigation, forensic accounting, and valuation services. His past projects include real estate, tax exempt entities, sports franchise and license valuations, bankruptcy work, and forensic accounting services, including asset tracing.
McNulty has worked on major projects involving rock and pop archives, and commercializing the Vatican’s music library. McNulty has also testified as an expert witness in numerous cases, in Superior Courts, Federal Court, Bankruptcy Court, the High Courts of England and Wales, the international court in The Hague,Netherlands, and before the European Commission.
His current client list includes high technology, private equity, hedge funds, venture capital, not-for-profit entities, NBA franchises, MLB teams, and NFL teams. He also personally represents the business interest of a number of professional athletes, general managers, writers, and numerous entertainers.
McNulty is presently active in several not-for-profit organizations including “Concern Worldwide” ,“Aid for Africa ” and the “Shamrock Foundation”.
